Rachel Sterne

Yesterday we received the very first Youtube application here at 48 Hours in Denmark. The creator is a real forerunner in the field: Rachel Sterne of Groundreport fame. Groundreport is a user generated journalism site (am I sayin that right, Rachel?) to which more than 4000 people contribute, and they have more than 200.000 visits a month. She also has 1300 followers on Twitter.

Now that all sounds very impressive, but don’t let it scare you - your video is still more than welcome and your chances are not smaller, just because you have fewer followers on Twitter! ;-)

Questions?

Have a question or is something unclear on the site? Please point us to it and we’ll look into it straight away.

By the way, Denmark is a pretty cool place… I mean how many places have you ever visited where the weather in two hours can change from heavy snow to great spring sunshine… Yep that’s how it has been this morning here in Aarhus. However don’t worry - we’ve booked great weather when you’ll be here.

Our Facebook Group

Welcome to the second day of the project! Yesterday we got around 200 hits, which isn’t bad for a first day tally. Quite a few people were kind enough to tweet the URL and use the #48hoursindk tag, so we are aware of people in the UK and US already showing some degree of interest. Yay!

If you’d like to join our Facebook group - it can be found by clicking this link.

3 2 1 - and We’re Live

Here’s a job offer you can’t resist. How about 48 hours in Denmark with everything paid for? Yes, seriously - and you get to bring along your girlfriend / boyfriend / other friend as well. We’ll cover the flight tickets, hotel stay, food and entrance to attractions of your choice.

Your duty? Well we want you to show us how you use digital media when you travel as a tourist. We want you to tell us how you’ve researched the trip, how you use digital media while you are here, and how you share your experiences when you get home.

How? Well get going and upload your application video to Youtube. Content? Surprise us! Be creative - just remember to tell us why we should choose you!

zhù nǐ háoyùn, Viel Glück!, ¡Buena suerte!, Veel geluk, bettawfēq - Yes that’s good luck to all of you :)

This Site is Coming Along Nicely

Well, isn’t it? We’re finalizing the details about the contest and what we want out of the applicants. Also equipment is being purchased for the different media aspects of the applicants work. We’ve got a Flip HD camera on the way from the US, which will serve as our video link to the “winners”.

At the same time the actual design of the site is taking shape and should be done within a few days. After this we will start to seed the opportunity on different travel and tourism sites, we will Twitter it, Facebook it and so on.

Know anywhere we’re not present? Let us know! Might be good for you application ;-)

48 Hours and Counting

Welcome to the site - you’ve jumped the gun a little, we’re not quite open for business yet. We will be soon, and the application-types will be made public.

Until that time, start thinking of creative ways to tell us that you are the best digital tourist and deserve a free trip to Denmark because of it!

Stay tuned.
