I already use this application to track my movement and record photos and video from wherever I may be, so that I can see details like altitude (helpful when up in Summit County) as well as speed (helpful when using it as a work out device.
I hope to get to track my trip (If I win…) to document my travels, taking photos and video along the way to have a sort of documentary of my travels… this will be a good way to have virtual trip buddies.
actually it’s the precursor to a thing called NokiaviNe. I participated in a campaign run by Nokia about it. I also wrote about it here: http://www.mobiledan.com/?tag=nokiavine
I simply log in, and it tracks my movement, I think that the NokiaviNe app is much easier to move around for others to check out, whereas the SportsTracker site is more for comparing running/walking/skiing stats…
The burn on the battery isn’t too bad, but currently I am using the N78, the 5800 and the N800 Internet Tablet… And, thanks to GSM, I can just swap my sim card, which, would be what I would be doing in Denmark anyway…
I think, my take on the trip (with less sun burnt nose of course ) would be that less editing, more real time updates, via the applications that I plan on using ie. Shozu, for updating my Wordpress blog, my photo sharing site OVI.com, and my Facebook. while also using things like Gravity to update and stay in touch with my twitter. I am trying to prove that you don’t NEED a laptop or a PC to stay connected, and can say less, and mean more by uploading photos and videos on the run. This is why I love Mobile Technology, and how it can free us from the constraints of needing to be on a computer. less on a computer = more in real time… I would love to go on this trip and make as little a footprint on the towns and cities I visit, while still reporting and recording my visit.
Here is one use of sportstracker that I liked https://sportstracker.nokia.com/nts/workoutdetail/index.do?id=891245 (don’t forget to check the altitude box if you view it!)

That tracker is pretty cool, very detailed. Must be fairly battery intensive - a precursor to Latitude, of sorts?

I’m always impressed with folks that use their mobile phones more than a PC. That’s pretty hardcore!
